I loved painting this ti plant for the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center in March, 2018.
A gorgeous painted King Protea was painted for Alii Animal Hospital & Resort as one of several painted featured moments in their boarding rooms.
This is a close up image of the painting that wrapped around a smoothie shack for Tsue's Farm out in North Shore on Oahu. Tsue's Farm has many outdoor interactive activities to offer for both leisure and educational purposes. This piece of the mural was inspired by the Pekin Ducks that they have in part with their petting zoo.
This year I had the fun project of making the backdrop for the Easter bunny photo booth in the Pearlridge Shopping Center in Pearl City. I used watercolor techniques with house paint and had so much fun blending happy bright colors together.
This design was intended to put clients at ease and feel a sense of peace with the cool tones, and calm quiet of the ocean at night. Included are hints of playful pattern, and a subtle allusion to the iconic Mokulua islands to the Kailua area. A sea bird is nestled in the foliage, while heliconia, King Protea, and beach Naupaka flowers float overhead.
This design was intended to be painted in the concrete parking garage at the base of a residential condominium. In an area of the garage with bright light and high visibility, bicycle racks and surfboard racks were to be installed onto the wall. The color presence of blue was intended to both bring peace to viewers, and in certain studies has shown to lessen crime rates. The illustration of the girl reading is showing her journey around the city, finding comfortable places to work on her studies as she eventually makes her way to the beach. The state fish are there in the wave to greet her. This piece is meant to invoke the feeling of cozyness and home to the residents in their apartments.
This mockup design was commissioned with the parameters of being painted on 3 sections of ceiling that were each 15 ft x 30 ft as a lounge recreation area for a community on Oahu. The pillars were to be lined with wood paneling and metal sculptures of leaves, along with light fixtures were to be installed. I created the mockup of the vision for the pillars in order to coordinate my ceiling design. The ceilings were all to be painted red, with instruction for palm leaves to be painted on top of that color, so I designed a fiery sunset blend from the perspective of being below the trees looking upwards at them, in orde to give the illusion of height.
In Feb 2020 I had the opportunity to paint a design of my choice and approved by the building owner and coordinators for PowWow, which is an annual painting event where artists from all over the world come together and donate their time to beautify a city. This design was very personal for me and was inspired by a sense of empowerment and peace, in this feminine but strong presence rooted in a harmonious balance between ocean and land. Two major symbols of Hawaii, the Hong and the Nene goose, are on either side of her. I have been touched by so many messages and responses in reaction to this piece, how people resonated with that inner strength and felt affected by it.
