I have been in love with Protea flowers in a really serious way for the last 3 years, and have loved experimenting with different textures and lighting while painting these babies! This painting is inspired by the all white King Protea, which are native to South Africa. Proteas come in at 1500 varieties, and look so other worldly, that they are often used as "alien flowers" in sci-fi films and shows. They have gained popularity over the past 5 years as being an iconic tropical flower, and are a favorited flower for wedding bouquets.
